GUY'S BAND

Guy plays in a band called Cat's Claw - it's not a huge brass band, and it's not a marching band, but a ceilidh band.  A ceilidh is the Scottish word for a barn dance - just the same but with no straw bales and less yee-hahs!  Guy plays melodeon (like an accordion but with buttons instead of piano keys), harmonica, mandolin and guitar.  Sadly not all at the same time, as I think that would be a real money-spinner, but I'm working on it...  There are four other musicians in the group and a caller (who 'calls' instructions) when the band are doing dances.  There's Sel, who wears a hat and plays fiddle, Roger, who rides a motorbike and plays drums and bodhran (a sort of drum), Imo, who plays the flute and is mum to Isabel, and Bob P, who plays guitar and fiddles with the knobs.  Veronica (Mrs Bob P) is the caller and she knows everybody in South Wales, which comes in very handy!

Guy regularly disappears to play gigs with the band, usually when there's serious DIY to be done - the first weekend of the pool build and then for TEN WHOLE DAYS in the middle of it on what he swears was a serious musical tour of ... sunny Spain.  And I believed him.
